Who: Homeowners, renters, landlords and businesses. Key eligibility to make use of the scheme is that your electronic items must come from a household or a small business.
What: The National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme provides households and small businesses with access to free recycling services for televisions and computers. Recycling services are rolling out across Australia, and there are now services available in all states and territories.
Electronic items such as televisions and computers, printers, keyboards, mice and hard drives can be disposed of for free. The scheme does not cover other electronic items such as mobile phones, stereos and video recorders. This Guide for Householders provides further information about the scheme.
You can also check Planet Ark’s Recycling Near You website for Scheme locations near you. It’s important to note that some locations may only accept either televisions or computers.
If services are not currently available in your area there are a range of alternative options for recycling your unwanted televisions and computers. Contact your local council or search for additional electronic waste disposal options on the RecyclingNearYou website. You could also offer items in good working order to your friends, local school or charity.
